Hypotenuse) Define a function hypotenuse that calculates the length of the hypotenuse of a right triangle when the other two sides are given. Use this function in a program to determine the length of the hypotenuse for each of the triangles shown below. The function should take two double arguments and return the hypotenuse as a double. Sample output Enter 2 sides of right triangle: 3.0 4.0 Hypotenuse: 5.0 Enter 2 sides of right triangle: 5.0 12.0 Hypotenuse: 13.0 Enter 2 sides of right triangle: 8.0 15.0 Hypotenuse: 17.0

Expert Solution
Explaination

We can easily solve the problem . As the programming language is not mentioned in the question as per our policy i am solving this in the c++ programming language

Here is the approcach:-

  • First create function which take two parameters side 1 and side 2 of the triangle
  • Then inside function defination create one variable to store the hypotenuse
  • First multiply side1 by side 1 iteself to calculate the square of side 1 and do the same with side 2 also
  • Then add the squares of both and store that to hypo
  • Then we need to take the square root of the value hence use the cmath library in cpp
  • Import the cmath in the header file list and use sqrt() function to take the square root of the hypotenuse and then return the value of the hypotenuse
  • In the main create three variables two for two sides and one for hypo
  • Then take the input for both the variables and then call the function with the same values and store them to hypo as the result
  • Finally print the result i.e hypo
