Despite our best efforts to date, there are individuals who still need services but cannot get them, and communities who do not function well. There are various types of human services organizations; some tend to legal and victims assistance matters, others to public safety and disaster relief, food and nutrition, housing and shelter, and much more. As many of us know, there are rather large gaps in these services, and needs are going unmet. For your final project, you will choose a project and develop it on paper. Think about the community in which you live or another one you are familiar with, and identify some types of gaps in delivery of services or needed skill-building, etc. Access the Project Parameters document located on the e360 course home page for specific guidelines and expectations for this assignment. Learning Activity #5: Milestone 1 Read the article by the National Organization for Human Services, entitled, What is Human Services? This can be accessed at: http://www.nationalhumanservices.org/what-is-human-services After reading this article, click on the link at the bottom, entitled Helping Those in Need: Human Service Workers. After thinking it over, list at least one project idea and post it to the dropbox titled Milestone 1.
