How would non-vaccination issues affect a nursing facility? Explain your rationale.
Vaccine hesitancy is a common issue faced by the health care staff. There are several reasons associated with this. With the arrival of novel coronavirus and more infectious delta variant of COVID-19, the vaccination rates in many countries especially the US has increased significantly. But the vaccination rate among high risk groups like the elderly and nursing home residents are significantly lower. The main barrier to vaccination is political polarization and misinformation. Lack of trust in the medical system, concerns about side effects and efficacy, and barriers to access are some of the traditional sources of vaccine hesitancy. Whatever the cause might be vaccine hesitancy and non vaccinated status may have severe impact on the common population especially amidst a rapidly spreading pandemic.
