How to decide one or Two Samples?
How to decide one or Two Samples?
t-test:
(i) In the t-test, the sample size of 30 is large enough (n < 30)
(ii) Samples are taken randomly
(iii) Data should be normally distributed
(iv) Population standard deviation is unknown
Under these assumptions we use t-test
We have two types t-tests, One sample t-test and Two sample t-test
One sample t-test:
This one sample t-test is used to check whether there is significant difference between population mean and sample
mean or not.
For example, an investigator investigates in automobile industry. He wants to check the average height of tyres is 2
feets and he drawn the samples from the tyres is 15 randomly, the sample mean is 1.8 and sample standard deviation is
0.7. Now, test the hypothesis and check whether there is significant difference between population mean and sample
mean or not.
The formulae for one sample t-test is
where x-bar is sample mean
µ is population mean
s is sample standard deviation
n is sample size.
