Question

How should an introduction to data networking be written?

Expert Solution
Step 1

The solution to the given question is:

A data network is a type of communication network specialized in data transmission , not voice or video.

Consists of multiple nodes (or stations) connected by various means of communication.

DIFFERENT TYPES OF NETWORK

PRIVATE NETWORK

A private network is primarily a local area network that provides data transfer between different departments of an organization , such as an enterprise.

Each company location can be added as a network node , and all data files used by the organization can be transferred through a common server that acts as a repository.

PUBLIC NETWORK

Public networks are available to private and commercial customers of certain networks.

These networks may require multiple servers and network connections using different methods.

Often requires a subscription to the network.

When subscribing to , the service provider must provide the user with access credentials that allow the user to access authorized areas of the network.

Data Networking is a function of data network.

EXAMPLES

The following figure shows the different types of data networks , from short-range networks to large-scale data networks (WANs).

This example shows how a user sends data from a mobile phone to a work computer in Chicago over a personal area network (PAN).

This data may be transmitted to other locations , including New York City , over a local area network (LAN), metropolitan area network (MAN) , or wide area network (WAN).

This file can be downloaded over your company's local area network (LAN).

When a data arrives in New York , it is returned to the fiber optic local area network (LAN) data interface (FDDI).
