Sleep is basically the temporary state of rest during which an individual becomes physically inactive. It has been traditionally divided into two categories: non-rapid eye movement and rapid eye movement. The former is marked by a reduction of physiological activity and the latter is marked by intense brain activity and is an active period. There are five stages in a sleep cycle the first and second stage is light sleep, the second and third is deep sleep and the fifth or the last stage is rapid eye movement.
