Question

How many grams of ammonium nitrite must have reacted if 4.00 dm^3  of nitrogen gas was collected over water at 26 degrees Celsius and 97.8 kPa

Expert Solution
Step 1

Ideal gas is a gas which have no definite volume and interact via elastic collisions. There is negligible intermolecular forces between the particles. The ideal gas does not exist in the environment and is hypothetical gas.

Pressure given = 97.8 KPa

converting it to Bar

as 1 bar = 105 Pa

So 97.8×103 Pa=97.8×10-2 bar

volume = 4 dm3= 4 Litres

Temperature= 26 degree celsius

                        26+273=299 Kelvin

As PV=nRT
