How is thrombocytopenia treated in individuals diagnosed with the condition

The condition in which a person has a very low blood platelet count is termed as thrombocytopenia. Platelets, also termed as thrombocytes, help in the clotting of blood at the time of internal or external bleeding. The occurrence of thrombocytopenia can be due to leukemia or disorders in immune system.
Thrombocytopenia is diagnosed by blood test or physical exam. In a normal or fit person, the platelet count in the blood ranges from 150, 000 to 450, 000. If the blood test suggests that the blood platelet count is less than 150, 000, then the person has thrombocytopenia.
In the physical test, if the doctor sees the signs of bleeding under the skin and enlarged spleen, then the person must be suffering from thrombocytopenia.
