Hormone -- Hormones can be defined as a secreted chemical messenger which enables communication between cells , secreted by special cells called as endocrine glands .Hormones either direct secreted by endocrine glands in to the blood or through tubes by which secreted in to blood.
Hormone serve to maintain homeostasis and controls different functions and processes eg. development , reproduction, impulse transmission , digestion of food as important part of the body.
Classification of Hormones --Typically three types -
1- Peptides -Hormones which are modified amino acids or short ( peptides ) or long ( protein ) chains of amino acids with the molecules of carbohydrates .
2 - Lipids -Steroid hormones which contain lipids synthesized from cholesterol and eicosanoids ,contain lipids synthesized from fatty acid chains of phospholipids found in the plasma membrane .eg. glucocorticoids
3 - Monoamine -Type of hormones derived from aromatic amino acids eg . Tyrosine , Tryptophan
