The process of socialization is regarded as a crucial phase in every individual's life because in that process they are taught about the important values which will help them later in life. Socialization molds an individual's gender roles in society, how an individual is expected to behave and carry himself/herself in the outer world is determined in this phase. Thus, gender roles are integrated into the minds of an individual in the early stages of life and societal influence acts as the major catalyst in determining these roles of the individual.
