How are kaizen events and A3 reports similar to each other?
A3 report is an approach in which problem solving and continuous improvement in addressed in a structured way and it addresses the objective of lean manufacturing. It is a single page report used for problem solving, analysis and decision-making. It consolidates huge data into a single A3 size sheet which includes the components such as brief description of the problem, current state of operation, analysis of the problem and root cause analysis, recommendation for solving the problem, implementation plan, follow up and result report.
Whereas Kaizen events are fixed duration events where workshop is undertaken in order to address the specific area to be improved. It is led by the team leader and involves processes such as training, brainstorming, data collection and implementation of the plan.
