Expert Solution
Step 1: Anti- Markovnikov addition

Anti- Markovnikov addition also called peroxide effect or Kharasch - Mayo effect

The effect states that the addition of HBr to unsymmetrical alkene in the presence of organic peroxide (R-O-O-R) takes place in the opposite orientation to that suggested by Markovnikov's rule.

Anti- Markovnikov effect: -

In the presence of organic peroxide, when an unsymmetrical reagent is added to an unsymmetrical alkene, the negative part (X-) of the reagent gets attached to the carbon atom which carries more number of hydrogen atoms.
