Their are different perspective to understand sociology like the Functionalist, Conflict and Symbolic Interactionist. The functionalist believe in the macro picture of the society. One of the main propounder of functionalist school, Emile Durkheim gave the theory of collective representation. He believed that individuals are a part of the society they do not make the society. It believed in the idea of group over individual in terms of priority.
