Give ONE example of how a defect in a T Reg cell could lead to an immunological disorder or disease.
T-lymphocytes or the T-cells play a crucial role in fighting against the foreign particles. T-cell does so by generating a great diversity of antigenic receptors specific for different types of antigens through rearrangement of corresponding genes.
Sometimes, the antigenic receptor generated on the surface of T-cells acts against the self-antigen. One way to control population of self-reactive T-cells is the negative selection during their maturation. Another way of preventing such autoimmune reaction by T-cells that manage to escape the medulla of thymus is by the action of Treg cells.
These cells are the regulatory cells that suppress the autoimmune reactions by self T-cells, regulate the interaction between host and commensal flora and facilitates repair of tissues.
