Expert Solution
Step 1
Polymer:
A large molecule which is formed by many simple units called monomers is said to be a polymer. The process of formation of polymer is known as polymerization.
Biodegradable polymers: polymers which gets decomposed by the action of microorganisms or enzymes under aerobic or anaerobic conditions.
Non-biodegradable polymers: these consists of long chains of carbon and hydrogen atoms forming bonds which cannot be broken down by microbial action. These requires a long time to decompose.
