Give an example in your life where an instantaneous rate of change could have been measured or maybe that you noticed, other than velocity or acceleration while traveling.
DQ 2: Derivatives
We have seen the mathematical definition of the derivative.
Give an example in your life where an instantaneous rate of change could have been measured or maybe that you noticed, other than velocity or acceleration while traveling.
Make sure that your example is not an average rate of change (change over a long measure).
Describe the derivative by defining two variables (Y for dependent, X for independent) and then the rate ΔyΔx.
Bad Example: My Paycheck that I was given for working last week. Y=Dollars, X=Hours, ΔyΔx=$8 per 1 hour (This is bad because its not instantaneous, its average over a week)
Example: My stock grew in value the moment more people invested. Y=Dollars, X=People Invested, ΔyΔx=$100 per person
