Kievan Rus, was the first East Salvic. state.
It was established by Vikings Oleg ruler of Novgorod from during 879 AD. He seized Kiev and Smolensk, raided against Constantinople and Byzantium and led to the establishment of Kievan Rus.
The empire eventually made peace with Byzantium, developed trade and began to prosper. Their main exports included honey, fur, beeswax etc.
