Question
Explain the Modern piezometers.
Expert Solution
Step 1
Let’s first understand what is piezometers:
Piezometers are the geotechnical sensors which is used to measure piezometric level (pore water pressure) in the ground. It is designed to measure water pressure or pore water pressure in the soil, foundation, earth/rock fills, and concrete structures.
Or in other words:
Pore pressure meters or piezometrs are the pressure transducers which is installed beneath the ground to estimate the sub-surface piezometric level within groundwater level, rock or soil.
Modern types piezometers:
- Electric Piezometers
- Hydraulic piezometers
- Pneumatic piezometers
- Vibrating wire piezometers
