Explain in detail differences between complement protein and complement regulatory protein?
The immune system is involved in protecting the body from pathogens such as viruses and bacteria, foreign substances, cancer cells, etc. The body has two types of immune responses, innate immunity and adaptive immunity.
Innate immunity is the first line of defense against an invading pathogen. Innate immunity is nonspecific, and hence the immune response is not specific against a particular pathogen. Adaptive immunity is specific against specific antigens. Antigens are components of a pathogen or a foreign substance that can elicit an immune response.
Innate immunity includes anatomical barriers such as skin, mucus, etc. The mechanisms by which innate immunity fights infections include activation of the complement system, activation of adaptive immune system, inflammation, activation of white blood cells, etc.
