Explain Idiographic?

Sociological research requires intense study that facilitates the comparison of societies and human behavior. There are multiple ways for extensive field studies conducted by researchers that help in quantitative analysis to study trends.
Wilhelm Windelband introduced the term idiographic as an approach to knowledge.
The idiographic approach focuses on the micro-level and aims at exploring details of the individual case; this can be a person, or a society, as in sociology. This kind of research is used by Ethnographers like participant observation, interview methods.
The idiographic model focuses on an in-depth understanding of a particular case. It is qualitative research and is opposite to nomothetic.
For example- The study of Trobriand Islanders by Bronisław Malinowski is done by applying an idiographic approach. It accounts for the detailed study of the lives of the people on the island, and the results derived from this study are specific to the field. They can not be generalized to other societies.
