Explain how the female sexual response and orgasm is elicited.

The sexual response can be defined as the cascade of physical and emotional variation that occurs in an organism when he or she becomes sexually aroused and take part in sexual activities. There are several phases involved in the sexual response cycle.

Sexual response in females elicited when they encounter some sexual activity or have a desire for the sexual activity. The sexual response goes through several cycles of phases. The phases of sexual response and orgasm are-

• The desire phase lasts for few minutes in which the heart and respiratory rate increases and also the tension of muscle increases. In females, the nipples become erect, and the flow of blood in the reproductive organ increases.
• In the Arousal phase, the vagina in females starts swelling because of the increased flow of blood, and the clitoris becomes sensitive.
• The orgasm phase is for a short period. In this phase, muscle contraction begins involuntarily and then there occurs a forceful secretion of sexual tension. In females, muscle contraction in the vagina occur and rhythmic contraction in the uterus occurs.
• The resolution phase is the last phase in which the body starts returning to its normal level of functioning
