Explain how state constitutions, including Texas’s, are amended and revised.
Article 17 of the Texas Constitution is entitled to the "Mode of Amendment of the Constitution of the State". It consists of two sections out of which one has been revealed. The article procedure for amending the constitution.
There are four ways for constitutional amendments -
1. Through legislatively referred constitutional amendments.
2. Through initiated constitutional amendments put on the ballot through a citizen signature petition. Eighteen states allow this method of amendment. The requirements in several of the states, such as Illinois and Mississippi, are difficult are rarely used.
3. Through constitutional conventions. In some states, the automatic ballot referrals allow the voters to decide at regular intervals if a convention is to be held.
4. In Florida, there is a commission-referred amendment process.
