Your bank requires you to enter your password to authenticate you. But how do you know you are really communicating with your bank and not some clever hacker site that looks just like your bank and is set up to steal your password so they can take your money out of your REAL bank? How do you know your communication with your bank is not being copied off of the network by someone using a sniffer? How do you know that your transaction data is not being changed as it traverses the network?
