In the core of a nuclear reactor, water is heated by the nuclear reaction and
changes state to steam. The steam runs through pipes into a vat of fresh water,
and the heat flows out of the steam into the fresh water. The steam condenses
into liquid water, and is pumped back into the core of the reactor.
In a fractional distillation tower, crude oil is heated, and separated using the
boiling points of the various components. The components are pumped to
different sections of the plant to undergo further reactions.
A boiler burns methane gas to heat water into steam, which is then pumped into
a reaction vessel where it reacts with organic feedstock to produce hexanol.
Sulfur dioxide gas is reacted with oxygen gas to produce sulfur trioxide. This gas
is then bubbled through water to produce sulfuric acid, which is pumped out of
the reaction vessel.
