Earth Crust Definition
Expert Solution
Step 1

Earth's crust is the outermost layer on the earth. The volume of the earth's crust is around 1% of the entire volume of earth. The crust is mostly composed of hard rock, the top surface of the earth supports life and different ecosystems. Crust happens to be the layer that mediates between the inner surface and the outer atmosphere. Crust comprises different rocks and minerals developed from melting rocks. The heat from the inner surface melts the rocks and turns them into molten lava. The pressure developed inside the earth's surface forces the molten lava to gush outside, this gushing of molten lava is called a Volcano.

Crust gets exposed to the heat from inside the earth and varying temperatures from outside. The crust is a treasure of numerous minerals and precious stones, aquifers, rocks, deposits of fossil fuels, and coal.
