During this Covid 19 pandemic, the SLU Community did the following acts of charity: a. Looked into the welfare of stranded students during the first months of national and local lockdowns to help them materially, looked into their safety, and assist them in going home. b. Organized community pantries outside Baguio c. Conducted webinars among students to cope with stress and other problems d. Extended deadlines to accommodate students with difficulties in coping with their academics. e. Organized donation drives to help those in distress like those victimized by typhoons and earthquakes. Questions for your reflections: 1. Why do you think is SLU doing these acts of charity? 2. As a community member of SLU, are you happy upon realizing that these things happen in your Academic community? Why? We are in a university that wants its graduates to become creative, excellent, socially involved, and missionary-spirited. Our SLU Community does good works because this is its nature. As a University run by the CICM Missionaries, we walk our talk because we exist to give witness to the love of God, who became concrete in the person of Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit's power. This love in action made concrete in our human experiences is the rationale for this module. With this, we need to revisit the missionary priorities of the CICM. As members of this congregation in its academic apostolate, we involve ourselves because it is the right thing.
