Oogenesis
The formation of the ovum (mature female gamete) from undifferentiated germ cells is called oogenesis. This process takes place in the ovaries (female gonads). Oogenesis consists of three stages known as the multiplication phase, growth phase, and maturation phase.

DNA is the genetic material (except RNA virus) of ever organisms as it contains genes. Genes control the characters and functions of the cell.
DNA replication is the process of doubling the genetic material. It is an essential process for the cell.
Cell division is the event where a mother cell divides into two daughter cells. This event is also essential for the organisms for growth, regeneration, wound healing and reproduction.
Each dividing cell go trough some cyclic events which is collectively known as cell cycle. The events/phases of the cell cycle are G1, S, G2 and M.
At M phase of cell cycle, cell division occurs. As the number of the cell is doubled after cell division, so the the amount of genetic material should be doubled before cell division.
But, doubling of genetic material by DNA replication is not occurred in M phase. DNA replication is occurred at S phase of the cell cycle.
