Health assessment is very important nursing action. It is the overview of the patient which involves all the ques of patients whether it is subjective or objective.

Subjective – It is the details given by patient about his/her health.

Objective- This is the assessment which a Nurse or examiner identify by different techniques.

Techniques used in Health assessment –

Inspection- Its is the techniques which require your senses to observe the patient. By inspecting the patient we can find out many clues like skin colour, body posture, gait,facial expression etc.
Palpation- By the hands examiner can assess the different parts of the body for any abnormal overgrowth, like splenomegaly etc.
Auscultation- In this technique, examiner needs a stethoscope to listen the sounds of heart, lungs, bowel and to identify the abnormal and normal findings.
Percussion- in this technique, with the help of fingers/ palm, examiner can find out the presence of fluid or mass in the body by sounds.
