DIESEL ENGINE WITH WHR BOILER PROBLEM:             A WHR(waste-heat-recovery) boiler is used to recover the heat from the exhaust gases of a 1250 hp Diesel engine.  The engine is an 8-cylinder, 16” x 12”, 300 rpm having an exhaust gas temperature of  750 °F.  It is operated most of the time at 80 % of its capacity with a fuel consumption of 0.40 lb/hp hr.  Ambient room temperature is 82 °F.  If the exhaust gas leaves the boiler at 40 °F higher than the temperature of the steam generated at 60 psia, D and S, and if jacket water at 150 °F is used for boiler feed, sketch the set-up and estimate the amount of steam produced.  Assume a boiler efficiency of 75 %.
