Expert Solution
Step 1

To solve above problem, one should know what three phase semi converter is and how it is working.

To charge a battery from AC supply or convert AC into DC rectifier (converter) circuits are used. According to supply a rectifier may be single phase (two legs or 4 switches) or three phase (three legs or 6 switches).

According to diode configuration rectifier circuit are also classified as bridge rectifier which used 4 diodes in bridge fashion, center tap rectifier which uses two diodes and a center tap transformer then we have half bridge rectifiers which uses only one diode and rectify only positive half cycle of the alternating voltage.

Rectifiers are also classified as controlled or uncontrolled rectifier. If all the switches of the legs are Thyristor or SCR controlled one, then it is controlled rectifier if the switches are diodes then it is uncontrolled.

In three phase or single there is other configuration exist called semi converters. In semi converters upper switch of the converter leg is controlled switch like thyristor or SCR and lower switch is uncontrolled switch like diodes.
