Describe the structure and function of the cardiopulmonary system ?

The heart, blood vessels and blood, trachea, bronchi and lungs form the cardiopulmonary system. The cardiovascular system and the respiratory system together form the cardiopulmonary system. Both these systems are interdependent on each other and are involved in the picking up and transportation of the oxygen to the various parts of the body and transportation of carbondioxide from the organs to be removed outside the body.
The respiratory system of the humans are involved in the gas exchange. The air from outside is taken up and the warming and humidification of the air takes place in the nasal cavity. Then this air enters the pharynx and then larynx, travelling through the trachea and then the air enters the lungs. Then the air reaches the respiratory bronchioles and enter inside the alveolar ducts, alveolar sacs and then reaching the alveoli. The alveoli are tiny sac like structure which are very thin for easy exchange of gases. The diffusion of the oxygen takes place from the alveoli into the blood vessels which is now transported to all the cells of the body.
