The shoulder girdle also referred to as the pectoral girdle, links the upper limbs to the axial skeleton. It comprises the scapula and the clavicle. Anteriorly, the clavicle extends up to the sternum and makes an articulation with it at the sternoclavicular joint. The scapula and clavicle are linked with one another at the acromioclavicular joint. The scapula is not directly connected to the axial skeleton but is attached to it through muscles.
