The underlying foundations of the word hypogastrium signify "underneath the stomach". The region of the mid-region situated beneath the umbilical area is marked as the hypogastrium/hypogastric region. The lower limit of this region is established by the pubic bone. The hypogastric area contains the sigmoid colon, the rectum, the urinary bladder, the small digestive system, the right and left ureters, the vas deferens, the prostate and the seminal vesicle can be found in guys, the uterus, the fallopian tubes, the right and left ovaries can be found in females.
