Characteristics of each of the stages in the household life cycle are:
1. Single | : (Under 35)live alone, with parents or with others they are not related to. The younger members of this group have limited income and expenses.
2. Young couples, No children: (Under 35) both are generally working and are relatively affluent.
3. Full nest |: married couples (Under 35) with young children. Wife doesn't work, resulting in a decrease in the family income.
4. Single parent | : (Under 35) living with one or more young children. Generally a female head of household. Time and finances are scarce.
5. Middle-aged single : (35-64) live alone and sometimes with others they are not related to. There are high income and expense ratios.
