Describe the computer and it's characteristics

Computer:- In simple words computer can be defined and described as a device or a machine that can perform various types of operations such as arithmetic operations, logical operations through a set of instructions. The set of instructions through which computer performs various operations is known as programs. A person can also save i.e. store data , fetch the particular data and process any type of data. A computer is a combination of hardware devices and software. It uses various input devices such as keyboard, mouse to take input and uses various output devices such as printer, monitor to display results and present output. The language that computer understands is binary language. This language consists of only 2 values i.e. 0 and 1. The computer software converts data given by user to binary and vice versa.

Characteristics of Computer:-

1) Accuracy-  It is also known as correctness. The calculations performed by a computer are 100 % percent correct. There are no errors in calculations and various tasks performed by a computer. There a chances of mistakes only when the data entered in the system is inaccurate or inconsistent.

2) Thoroughness- Thoroughness is also known as diligent behavior of a computer system. A human gets tired after a certain amount of time and work but computer machine has a capability to perform various tasks, billions of  calculations with same accuracy and consistency.

3) Adaptiveness-   A computer has a versatile nature that means it can adapt various types of situation and can perform numerous types of tasks and works with same correctness and efficiency.

4) Speed- It is most important characteristic of computer. Millions of operations are performed by computer in nanoseconds. CPU, RAM, Hard disk are main factors that mainly determines speed of a particular computer.

5) Large Memory or Storage Capacity-  Computer consists of primary and secondary memory. The primary memory is also known as built in memory where computer can store a large amount of data. Apart from this computer also supports external secondary storage devices which are removable such as CD, Pen drives , External hard disks through which large amount of data can be stored.
