Question:
Describe TCP/IP and its functions. What layer of the OSI model does TCP/IP reside and what attacks are related to TCP/IP.
TCP/IP
The term TCP/IP refers to the "Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol" in computer networks. It enables the computer system to communicate with other systems or devices present over the network having longer distances using a set of standard rules.
TCP/IP divides (or breaks) the given message into data packets, and then TCP is responsible for collecting and reassembling the data packets whereas IP ensures that the data packet should reach the correct destination.
To perform any communication task, TCP/IP uses four different layers. The individual layer has distinct functionality. It is considered as a highly reliable protocol suite and provides end-to-end data transfer when an unreliable inter-network is used.
