Describe post-Reconstruction Texas.
Reconstruction was the attempt in integrating the southern states within the dominion the United States. After the Civil War ended , Texas was in grave instability. In order to reform the economic and political system and redefine the racial relations between the white and the minorities ,reconstruction was envisioned. The old order was to be replaced by a new political centralized state during this era.
This started wit the US troops entering the southern states ,to ensure the freedom of the now free Black Americans , who had now been free from clutches of slavery. But the way it was implemented invited many criticism.
