Describe about the Bearing Capacity Equations.
In geo technical engineering, bearing capability is the soil's ability to withstand the loads applied to the surface. Soil bearing capability is the absolute total contact strength between base and soil that is not required to cause shear failure in the soil. Ultimate bearing capacity (qf) is the highest potential pressure that can be borne without failure; acceptable bearing capacity (qa) is the ultimate bearing capacity separated by a protection factor. Often major settlements may occur on soft soil sites under loaded foundations with no apparent shear failure; in such situations, the permitted bearing capacity is dependent on the overall permissible settlement.
