Define the Pipe and Duct Flow?

Expert Solution
Step 1

Pipe flow is the mechanical system used to distribute the liquid and is constraint to move within the walls of the pipe.

There are two types of flow in the pipe and they are laminar or viscous flow and turbulent flow.

When the fluid flows at low velocity or high viscosity it flows in the form of lamina due to viscous forces and is called laminar flow.

While when the fluid flows at high velocity or high viscosity then the flow is known as turbulent flow.

In pipe flow if the critical Reynold's is less than 2000 then it will be laminar flow and when the critical Reynold's number is greater than 4000 then it will be turbulent flow.

For the flow in pipe the generalized equation is Navier strokes equation and they are
