Sociology is a social science discipline, and it is based mainly on three perspectives. A sociological perspective refers to an idea or a perspective based on which a social institution, structure, system, etc., are perceived. Sociology is mainly based on three perspectives, namely- Structural functionalism, conflict, and symbolic interactionism.
Symbolic Interactionism is a micro-level sociological perspective that studies verbal and non-verbal interactions in a society. It considers society as a structure that consists of numerous individuals. A Society, according to these theorists, is responsible for the development of individual personality. Individual personality develops through social analysis and how a behavior pattern is perceived on a social level. Symbolic interactionists see cultural elements as norms and patterns that determine the acceptability of a particular behavior pattern. An individual's behavior pattern will be accepted only when it is aligned with the concerned society's cultural elements.
