define race

The world population is divided into numerous categories and sub-categories of people who originally belong to specific geographical areas and share similar cultural traits.
Race refers to a group of people who share a set of physical differences and core cultural upbringing. These differences are considered socially significant by researchers and theorists of various social science disciplines. They are biologically identical as well. They are socially categorized into separate groups and perceived as different and unique. There are primarily five racial categories- Alaska Native, Asian, Negroid, Hispanic, Native Hawaiian, and White.
Racial segregation in society might lead to various forms of social stratification and discrimination. Smaller and minority racial communities are often discriminated against and forcefully made to occupy a lower social stratum as compared to the bigger communities.
