Northern People of Russia who is also called numerically small people of the North (Malochislennye Narody Severa. They are a distinct legal category of the people who live in the northern side of the country. Their population is around 50, 000 and they use traditional ways for lifestyle.
During Soviet Era, this class of people was created looking into their backwardness. At the end of the Soviet Era, 26 people group was present and these were Sami, Khanty, Mansi, Nenets, Enets, Nagansan, Selkup, Tofalar, Evenki, Even, Yukagir, Chukchi, Chuvans, Eskimos, Aleut, Koryak, Itelmen, Dolgan, Ket, Negidal, Nanai, Ulchi, Oroki, Orochi, Udege and Nivkhi.
They live in the Kola Peninsula to Bering Sea, Chinese Border, and Sakhalin Island
