Define Multivariate Relationships?

Expert Solution
INTRODUCTION

Sociology as a discipline conducts several types of research to find out the causes and factors of the different existing social problems. It uses different statistical tools and scientific methods to carry out research. The research is defined with several steps that design the research flow to get the desired results.

EXPLANATION

The multivariate relationship is a statistical method to find out the relationship between the data samples. It uses two or more variables to analyze the relationship between the variables. There are various types of multivariate relationships.

1. spurious relationship: in this, two variables are associated with each other, but there is no causal relationship between the two variables.

2. chain relationship: the two variables are related to each other, and they have an existing causal relationship between them.

3. suppressor variables: there exists a causal relationship between the variables. This relationship becomes stronger when we introduce the relevant control.

4. multiple causes; all the variables will have causal relationships, but the variables are independent of each other.

5. interaction terms: by entering the statistical control, the original relationship between the two variables changes due to the category variable's dependence.
It has many advantages like it helps determine the influence of one or more variables on the criterion value, helps identify the anomalies, etc.
