Define Earth–Moon Satellite Orbits?
There are 8 planets in our solar system. Sometimes Pluto is included which makes the total to 9.
These planets revolve around the sun in definite orbits.
The sequence of planets from the sun is-
Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto being the last.
An orbit is a fixed path in which the planet or satellite revolves around the sun. An orbit is a regular, repeating path that one object in space takes around another one.
An object that revolves in an orbit is called a satellite. A satellite is a moon, planet or machine that revolves around a planet or a star.
Satellites are of two types-
1. Natural- These satellites are Moons. Moons revolve around a planet and they were created due to the big bang.
2. Artificial- These satellites are man-made. They are created by man and they revolve in the space. They are used for various purposes like broadcasting, telecommunications, weather predictions etc.
So, the moon is our natural satellite.
