However, after messing around with some of them, I found that I and anyone could definitely benefit by using TRIM. I know it isn’t very exciting or that creative of a formula, but it is new to me like all formulas are, and it could definitely help clean things up. Inputting TRIM then a specific cell in parenthesis will take out any extra spaces in the text in that cell. This is good for if you are copying and pasting things into Excel from other programs and when the spacing is messed up after pasting. It honestly doesn’t seem a whole lot faster than just clicking next to each word and backspacing, but I would assume on a large spreadsheet with a lot of data that the saved seconds would add up.I would think this would be at least a little helpful for those who do copy and paste from other programs and also help somewhat with timesaving and efficiency. I believe this is likely one of the more widely used formulas, so it definitely can be useful in probably any and all situations. Everything I have learned in this course led me to learn about this formula because I was so new to Excel before starting this course. So new that I didn’t even know what a formula was, let alone how to find them, use them, or really anything about them. I know I will definitely use this when needed since after being curious about pasting some things into Excel, I did notice that there were some space issues. Post 2One formula that I had never used, or even heard of prior to this class, was the NETWORKDAYS function. The NETWORKDAYS function returns the number of weekdays between two dates that you specify. This will automatically exclude days that fall on the weekend, and you can optionally input how many days are going to be holidays.I can see this being very useful where I work, because working on the weekends rarely, if ever happens. We have scheduled software releases where their dates are hardly ever change. We have all of our software release dates in on centralized excel document, so we could add this function to subtract the networkdays between the day of the software release, and today’s date. This could give us an instant number of how many workdays we have until the software release date. I didn’t have any trouble learning or utilizing this formula, and I think overall it’s extremely easy to use!What I’ve learned in this class regarding Excel has been that Excel is for more than just displaying data. Prior to this class, I had only utilized and understood Excel to be a way in which you can “pretty up” the data to make it more presentable to clients and upper management. I’ve now seen how Excel can be used to input and maintain data on a regular basis. Although it may not be the best option out there for the maintenance of HUGE amounts of data, I can see it being used on a smaller basis with much efficiency and ease.
