consider the fact that around 260 million children are in employment around the world, according to the International Labour Organisation the ILO estimates that 170 million are engaged in child labor, defined by the UN as “work for which the child is either too young – work done below the required minimum age – or work which, because of its detrimental nature or conditions, is altogether considered unacceptable for children and is prohibited”. Would photographing children laboring to make the products we buy in America work like it did for Hine and the NCLC?  Would images of child labor in foreign countries be enough for Americans to make different consumer choices? What about you? Do you think it could it change how international trade agreements are negotiated?

Expert Solution
Introduction

Societies around the world have certain ills plaguing them - like racism, sexism, etc. One of the main ills is child labor. Nearly 260 million children are employed in today's day and age, when the UN has clearly laid down the law that children below the minimum age for working are prohibited from working. Despite this, child labor continues, and in many of their work environments, children are not even working in safe conditions. Therefore, the issue of child labor needs to be addressed.
