Expert Solution
Step 1

Different elements have different number of isotopes with different atomic masses. Thus it is difficult to use a fix atomic mass for particular element. For avoiding this problem we use average atomic mass, which is Products of atomic masses and percent abundances of each atom devide by 100. It can be written as -

Average atomic mass = (atomic mass of 1st isotope × % abundance of 1st isotope) + ( atomic mass of 2nd isotope × % abundance of 2nd isotope) + ( atomic mass of 3rd isotope × % abundance of 3rd isotope)/100

Here,

atomic mass of 1st isotope 64X = 64

atomic mass of 2nd isotope 66X = 66

atomic mass of 3rd isotope 68X = 68

% abundance of 1st isotope = 49%

% abundance of 2nd isotope = 28%

% abundance of 3rd isotope = 23%
