Chemical Formulas as Formulas: Converting between Grams of a Compound and Gram of a Constituent Element.   Iron is found in Earth's crust as several iron compounds. Calculate the mass (in kgkg) of each compound that contains 7.1×103 kg of iron. Given: Fe2O3 (hematite) Express your answer in kilograms to two significant figures. The answer :  Mass = 1.1 x 104 kg   But I don't know how it got here. I keep getting 4.9 kg for my answer. Converted it to kilograms also is a challenge for me. I know that 1 g = 1000 kg and that  1 kg = 0.001 g. But i'm not sure how to apply it.

Iron is found in Earth's crust as several iron compounds. Calculate the mass (in kgkg) of each compound that contains 7.1×103 kg of iron.

Given: Fe2O3 (hematite)

Express your answer in kilograms to two significant figures.

The answer :  Mass = 1.1 x 104 kg

But I don't know how it got here. I keep getting 4.9 kg for my answer. Converted it to kilograms also is a challenge for me. I know that 1 g = 1000 kg and that  1 kg = 0.001 g. But i'm not sure how to apply it.
