cell membrane and transport: types of transport proteins. Write a lab report.
cell membrane/plasma membrane:- outermost bi lipid layer of cell for segregate from external environment to the cell inner structure.
Cell membrane is semi permeable normally in structure . Only selective particles can diffuse inside the cell membranes through channels.
As mentioned semipermeable means it help in transportation of essential Particles from out to in or in to outside.
Channels are protein containing pores that's why called protein channels and the mechanism called membrane protein transport system.
The selectivity divided in two parts
electrolyte and non electrolyte selectivity
In electrolyte particles the small size particles can diffuse and in non electrolyte particular lipophilic and hydrophobic can diffuse through membrane.
The transport divided also In two parts
1. Active transport:- need energy in the form of ATP .
Conventional gradient also matter.
Fast process.
Depends on size , charge and temperature also
2. Passive transport:- no need of energy for transport.
Concentration gradient and electric gradient is essential for passive transport.
Transport proteins are two in type primary and secondary . Primary protein work opposite to gradient and secondary work with the concentration gradient.
