Case Study The ARCASNA company is dedicated to the manufacture of dog and cat food. Recently, the industrial engineering team became aware of potential areas of opportunity in the area of dog meat manufacturing. Currently, 45 liters of the solution are used to create them, and 50 jumbo, 75 medium and 100 small-sized chews are produced daily, to be sold and distributed in single packs (jumbo), trios (medium) and 5-packs (small). Recently there were inspections by the new manager in the industrial engineering area and the team realized that at the end of the day, among the "waste" (the material that remains at the end of each process), there is enough material left to fill a 5-liter bucket, which is wasted and thrown away. However, as there are 10 processes in total, there is very little left over at each of the stations, so they had never stopped to analyze the total loss per line. There are 6 workers on the line, distributed as follows: (Shown in the attached image).   In addition, the engineering team has 3 engineers in addition to the new manager. They usually work Monday through Friday, one shift, from 8 am to 5 pm, with one hour for lunch, which is enough to be able to produce the above mentioned. They do not stick to a takt time because it is well known that time is ample to produce, so it is common to see them on the line chatting, stopping for coffee or a snack. This does not bother the engineers, since "things work", however, with the entry of the new manager, it was evident the opportunity to produce more without the repercussion of overtime or extra shifts.       things to answer: 1) Define whether you want to implement a Kaizen plan or a Kaizen Blitz, and provide a comprehensive justification for your answer. Establish the duration of your project. 2) Define at least 2 tools to be used for its implementation and design them. Explain them in writing. (Hand in the tools and the explanation). 3) Establish the stages of the process to be developed, name them and develop (explain) two points of each stage, how you would implement it.
